Piazza Imo
About

Piazza Imo

Piazza Imo is an Italian-style public square on Marconi Avenue, directly across from St. Ambrose Church. It was built on a vacant lot at Marconi and Wilson that Edward and Margie Imo bought, and the square carries the Imo family name. A volunteer committee developed it with private donations instead of tax money, and it now operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in cooperation with Hill 2000.

The roughly 11,000-square-foot square has ornamental gates, granite walkways and benches, prayer gardens, statuary and a marble fountain imported from Italy. It is meant as a gathering place modeled on the piazzas of Italy. It also serves as an outdoor classroom for St. Ambrose School students.

The piazza is open daily from 6am to 10pm but may close for special events. It raises money through memorial sponsorships and events such as an annual Columbus Day golf tournament.
