About

Hall of Fame Place

Hall of Fame Place is the honorary name for the 5400 block of Elizabeth Avenue, where two future Baseball Hall of Famers grew up across the street from each other: Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola. The block was renamed in a 2003 ceremony.

The honor also recognizes Cardinals broadcaster Jack Buck, who lived on The Hill in the late 1950s. Granite plaques in front of the former homes note each man’s Hall of Fame induction: Berra in 1972, Buck in 1987 and Garagiola (for broadcasting) in 1991.

The houses are private residences, so this is a stop for a walk-by look and a photo of the plaques and street sign rather than a museum. It pairs easily with a stroll through the rest of the neighborhood’s residential streets, bakeries and delis.
