About

Urzi’s Italian Market

Urzi’s Italian Market is a neighborhood Italian grocery at 5430 Southwest Avenue. It started across the street in 1926 and moved into its current building in 1970, and the Riverfront Times describes it as a one-stop Italian shop known for good customer service.

Shelves are stocked with wines, cheeses, pastas, olives and olive oils, pasta sauces, spices, candies and chocolates, along with frozen foods, meats and housewares. The market also makes its own lemon ice, olive salad and chicken spedini, and it builds sandwiches until the day’s bread runs out. Fresh salsiccia is available on Thursdays.

Urzi’s is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm and closed Sunday. The market ships products, and items not shown in its online shop can be ordered by phone at 314-645-3914.
