Bertarelli Cutlery

Bertarelli Co., long known as Bertarelli Cutlery, is a family business that sharpens knives and supplies kitchens across St. Louis from its shop at 1927 Marconi Avenue. Felice Bertarelli immigrated from Italy in 1966 and partnered with knife sharpener Attilio Binelli. After Binelli retired, Felice started a cutlery rental and sharpening service from his home garage in the 1970s. The company moved several times before settling on The Hill, and today Felice and his sons own it.

Much of the work is commercial. Drivers swap freshly sharpened knives for dull ones at restaurants, grocers and delis, and the back of the shop handles sharpening plus repair and maintenance of restaurant equipment. The company also sells disposable paper goods and janitorial supplies.

The retail front is open to home cooks, with knives from brands such as Wüsthof, Victorinox, Shun, MAC and Global, alongside pasta makers, ravioli stamps, pizza peels and other kitchen tools. Knives can also be bought through an online shop.
