Nearly 5 acres, Berra Park is bounded by Shaw, Lilly, Daggett aand Macklind Avenues.

It was named Vigo Park when its site was purchased by the City in 1945. Frances/Francois/Francesco Vigo was an Italian immigrant that helped Gen. George Rogers Clark in the American Revolution, even though Missouri was a French possession, at the time.

More recently, it was renamed in honor of the late Louis G. “Midge” Berra, who was a long time strong political force in the South St. Louis area, in November, 1965. A monument was erected here in honor of Mr. Berra.

Berra Park plays part to a number of softball and soccer games. Also, you’ll often find birthday parties or reunions happening on park grounds.

Berra Park is also home to Hill Day, an annual festival celebrating The Hill, its residents, businesses, and organizations.
