Charlie’s Market & Deli on the Hill
Imo family's deli and market selling house-made meats, subs and pizza
Corner deli known for the Godfather sub and house Italian dressing

Eovaldi’s Deli & Catering is a locally owned sandwich shop at the corner of Edwards Street and Bischoff Avenue. It has been feeding The Hill for decades with stacked subs, salads and homemade pizza.
The signature sandwich is The Godfather. Regulars also order the Extra Special, loaded with meats, cheese and vegetables and finished with the house Italian dressing, and the Sicilian Bomber, a dip-style sandwich served with “bomber gravy.” Eovaldi’s was named Best Delicatessen in St. Louis by the Riverfront Times in 2010, was a finalist in KMOX’s Best Deli poll in 2018, and appeared on the Travel Channel’s Food Paradise.
This is a counter-service lunch spot. It also caters events and delivers throughout the St. Louis area. The deli’s website lists hours of Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The deli shares its 2201 Edwards Street address with Oldani, the salami maker long associated with the building. Today the meat plant operates as Salumeria Oldani, a USDA-inspected wholesale producer. It does not appear to have a retail counter or public hours, so Eovaldi’s is the place to stop in.
