Berra Park
4.8-acre city park with ballfields, pavilion and playground

Berra Park
Berra Park is a 4.8-acre City of St. Louis park in the heart of The Hill, bounded by Macklind, Daggett, Lilly and Shaw avenues just south of I-44. The city bought the land in 1945, when it was called Virgo Park. In November 1965 it was renamed for Louis G. “Midge” Berra, a longtime political figure in the neighborhood (no relation to Yogi Berra), and a monument to him stands in the park.
According to the city parks department, facilities include a soccer field, two softball fields, a pavilion and a playground, along with the Berra Park Fountain and the Professional Business Men Memorial. The pavilion and picnic tables are commonly used for neighborhood gatherings.
The park is also the gathering place for The Hill’s biggest annual community events, including the Italian Heritage Parade & Festa hosted each October by the Hill 2000 neighborhood association. It is maintained by the city’s Parks Division.
