Family-run Sicilian deli known for big subs and hot beef sandwiches

Adriana’s on the Hill is a corner sandwich shop and Sicilian-style deli on Shaw Avenue on The Hill. Sisters Dianna Guimbarda and Suzanne Miramonti took over the storefront in 1992 and named it for their mother, Adriana, and the business has stayed in the family since. Many of the sandwiches carry the names of relatives.
The menu centers on big Italian subs: hot roast beef, salsiccia, and cold combinations such as the Mambo Siciliano with ham, capicola and pepper jack. Smaller selections of pasta, salads, spinach pie and Sicilian-style pizza round things out, along with rotating prepared Italian dishes. Portions are generous enough that many guests split a sandwich or save half for later.
Ordering is at the counter, with handwritten tickets rather than online ordering, and there is indoor and outdoor seating. It is a lunch-only operation, and a line commonly forms around 11am, so arriving early helps.
