Made on The Hill, for The Hill
An independent guide to St. Louis’ historic Italian neighborhood, its businesses, its people and its stories.
Celebrate and support the neighborhood
The Hill St. Louis is an independent guide to St. Louis' Italian neighborhood: where to eat, drink and shop, what is happening, and the stories behind one of America's best-known Italian American communities. The site was rebuilt in 2026 to give visitors and neighbors one up-to-date place to find it all.
We cover openings, closings, events and history, and we check what we publish against named sources, which are linked at the end of every story. Businesses can send us news or add a listing through the Submit a Business and Contact pages.

Honest recommendations
Directory listings stick to details we can confirm, such as address, phone, website and hours. Our guides only name places with recent evidence that they are open, and we say so when something is unconfirmed.
Local first
Most of The Hill's businesses are family-run. Our directory includes every Hill business we could verify, not just advertisers, and our events section highlights what St. Ambrose, Hill 2000 and the Hill Business Association have planned.
Keeping history alive
Our history section draws on city records, parish history, newspaper archives and the neighborhood's own institutions, with a timeline that runs from the 1850s clay mines to today. If you have family photos or memories of The Hill, we would love to hear from you.
